ILL-L: Upgrades and Changes

ILL-L Wordle: Made From User Submissions

As all ILL-L subscribers are aware, the list was recently moved from Mailman to Listserv from L-Soft. The new platform offers improved performance features for subscribers as well as better maintenance tools for the list admins. There are currently 2056 subscribers to ILL-L from 29 countries. The list has helped to fill an untold number of requests that may not have been otherwise. It allows ILL practitioners to get help with problems as well as receive advice from their remote colleagues on a daily basis. Here are some important things to remember for list subscribers:

List home and archives: http://listserv.oclc.org/archives/ill-l.html

List email address: ill-l [at] webjunction.org

Using the above link you can join or leave the list, search the archives and use the web-based interface to send a message to the list. You need to register a password if you want to manage your subscription (disabling message delivery, switching to digest format, etc.). This can be done by clicking the “login with your LISTSERV password” link at the top of the subscription screen. On the next screen look for “get a new LISTSERV password,” then enter your email address (the same used to subscribe to the list) and enter a password of your choosing. You will then receive a confirmation email and can login to manage your account. The screenshots below illustrate the steps listed above.

As a reminder, the list address is still the same: ill-l [at] webjunction.org

Ongoing Issues:

We’re still working on the plain-text digest issue (LOTS of embedded HTML artifacts) as well as a few problems with users created passwords. The HTML artifacts problem is a known issue: http://www.lsoft.com/news/techtipLSV-issue4-2011.asp. Our host is planning a future upgrade which will fix this issue. Feel free to contact me and the other list admin, Mary Hollerich at the following email address: ill-l-request [at] webjunction.org with any other questions or concerns. You are also encouraged to leave your feedback, ideas, and comments below!
